They already smuggle in phones and have internet. Probably buy sim cards at the prison tuck shop.

Murderers and rapists are having it really really good. It’s a good time to be a criminal in SA. Free meals, computers. What’s next. Conjugal visits?

I don't see why the prison bosses where against this, and decided to spend millions litigating

What exactly are they going to do with the computers if they don't have access to the internet.
Play solitaire?

I don't have an issue as long as they pay for it themselves.

This is quite an interesting discussion. First prisoners were allowed books. Then they were allowed TV. Now they are allowed computers. It brings up the point of whether prison is there as punishment or to keep society safe and in what balance. In the latter case there's no reason for prisoners not to have what they want as long as it's not a danger to society or other inmates.

Prisons should focus on rehabilitation, most of them should be able to go back out into society and be contributing members, rather than set up to fail so they end up going to prison again.
