It's OK, for everybody else there is always a makuku and illegal Eskom connection.

"Recent rate hikes point to only a select handful of South Africans being able to buy a home."

Solution? Better increase the repo rate again.

And if that fails? Better increase the repo rate again

South Africans who can outright buy a home, don't care about the repo rate.

So very much Expert™.

Captain Obvious - thank you sir. And at this rate, I will never be a home owner.
You can also thank the 2008 financial crisis. They pumped in money into the economy via quantitative easing (fancy way of saying they printed money) and that extra money was sucked up by high asset classes like property pushing the value of houses to ridiculous levels.

That doesn't apply to South Africa.

They care about the rate because a high interest rate tends to promote a buyers market.
