JOHANNESBURG – On Saturday, planets Jupiter and Venus will be joining for what has been described as the most intimate “pass de deux” that you will only get to witness once again after 20 years.
The orbit of the celestial bodies around the sun is better known as the “Dance of the Planets” and will occur at sunset.
Explaining the planetary spectacle, Astronomer Dr Philip Calcott says “It’s a beautiful event in the night sky involving the two brightest planets, brighter than any star and they getting very, very close together, the closest they will be in the early evening sky for the next 24 years.”
He says South Africans, especially city residents, can observe the moment from their own backyard.
