South Africans don't want to miss the next Bitcoin boom

Reitz added that cryptocurrency is still perceived as a store of value or investment
Nope! How does it act as a store of value or investment when it's so volatile and easily manipulated? When you look at the definition of store of value on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Store_of_value, then it becomes obvious that cryptocurrency can only be considered as a speculative investment.

Repeat after me please, Bitcoin is not an investment. It may be a good speculative opportunity but nothing more. Also the fomo has pushed the price up to over an 8% premium on Luno when it tops out and then all those people dump and lose out.

In fact, if you invested in any of the top 10 cryptocurrencies on the market on 1 January 2019, you could have easily doubled your money by now.
Top 10 out of how many? They're top 10 only because they did the best but there's no way to know that ahead of time. Journalism isn't everyone's strong point it seems.

Bitcoin FOMO is so 2017

In SA I’ve noticed we as a society are very guilty falling for FOMO tactics so a lot of these dead cat bounce type situations happens. It’s both funny and sad as people lose money.. it’s just fascinating to me as I see it happen with a lot of things

I made a killing in late 2017. Cashed out, got a real fulltime job.
