South Africans want Starlink, regulations be damned

In other breaking news from the deep platteland, I now have a (occasionally intermittent) 4G mobile signal here on the farm. Upgraded from 3G.

I will certainly be looking at Starlink to replace my Wi-Fi connectivity as soon as the teething pains are over. My Wi-Fi provider does a good job in the NC, OVS, large parts of the Karoo and other remote areas though. Especially given the distances and infrastructure required.

We have good LTE when it's up. I'm literally half a km from the tower and have line of sight. I can get up to 150mbps on this tower when it's working optimally, but this Starlink connection has been something else. Rock solid and fast. It's the best internet I've had in 2 years since moving out here!

Very kind offer, thank you. I am way out in the sticks. No chance of LTE here. I do have a Yagi-type booster antenna for mobile signal from town about 48km by road from my farm. I have good Wi-Fi and am patient for this Starlink thing.

Thanks again

I have a spare 1800 mhz boost antenna in case your router has place for an external antenna. What router do you use?
