South Africans will be without power for 12 hours a day in 4-hour slots under Stage 9 load-shedding

Why not create a megathread where the majority of these loadshedding articles can be dumped into.

No it's not. Stage 6 it's 9 hours.
All depends on who has an interest in the area...

Here are 2 areas for reference. There is a ridiculous difference between these areas!

Nee fok, I'll stay in East London for now. By my calculations it does not come to 12hours in a day ?

Well we currently off around just over10 and then at least twice a week when power does not come back on due to cable theft and what not.

That is current stage 8

Indeed, Stage 8, allowing for switch over allowance time that many have, can easily be between 12 to 13.5 hours a day. Do they just let anyone be a physics professor (and a Sunday Times journalist) these days?

In fact, Stage 9 will see some areas have 14 to 15.5 hours off for 3 days of a 4 day rotation (if it is a 24/7 Stage 9 over multiple days), depending on the relevant schedule.

Seems like the old genny will need a proper service before winter otherwise the batteries won’t last.

Just earlier my old man was joking "I hope we don't end up with Zim's level of loadshedding".

I think he was joking, these days anything goes.
