Proteas can learn from Banyana? Are you out of your mind. Banyana has lost every single match they have ever played at the women's world cup. Proteas at least won matches at the world cup.The Proteas mens team can learn a lot from Banyana. Before yesterday, they played in five WAFCON finals and lost all. The Proteas mens team are chokers but have also not even gone to the final of a major tournament in over 20 years I think.
SABC Sport. SABC 3 airs a select number of games. I watch highlights on YT as well.Which channel shows the Bundesliga ?
Nigeria has beaten countries like Slovakia as well as Romania, and drawn with Portugal and Canada. Until this weekend, they were the top ranked African team. However, they run a semi-pro league like South Africa. How many other African teams have sponsored leagues for women. How many players from other countries get paid during the year and have a league to play in?
I am sure the sport will grow slowly in African but when an African team comes up against a European team they lose because even us only have a semi-professional league and many women need another job where as in Europe that play for a living and get paid good salaries. Other African countries are even worse and don't even have sponsorship for a league. African countries are not known for women's rights so winning the tournament won't make Banyana become world beaters. In fact they have lost every single match they have ever played at the World Cup.
I don't think they have in their history every won a single match against a non African team.
This is a good achievement but still needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
Congrats!
Where was this broadcast?
He suggested Safa could explore the option of subsidising Banyana from proceeds generated from Bafana sponsorship. “Some of the money that is meant for men’s sport should subsidise the women.”
Guess the SABCs streaming service hasn't launched, if was ever going to.SABC and SuperSport.

SABC to launch its video streaming service by March 2022 | Life
The South African public broadcaster plans to launch its own SABC video streaming service to the public, modelled after the BBC's iPlayer, before the end of its current financial year.www.news24.com
What would the sponsor think of that? They are sponsoring the men's team, not women's. If the money came from SAFA then yes they can use it as they like. And if sponsors are onboard with the idea then they should just sponsor that team or the whole of SAFA (which would be bad.)It's a good suggestion, men are already well paid at their teams and it won't break the bank.
I think sponsors give money to SAFA and set their sponsorship terms and conditions that mostly pertains to getting the right exposure for their brand, I don't think it extends to them telling SAFA how much money they should pay each player, so SAFA has a whole lot of discretion in how money is spent, because they derive their salary and other costs from the same funding from the same funding. That's why they could also pay themselves nice unexplained bonuses that Riah was complaining about. What would the sponsor think of that? They are sponsoring the men's team, not women's. Horrible? No, lacking in creativity, yes. What a horrible name!
Suppose it may not matter how the money gets spent as long as the sponsor get their promised airtime. Sasol would however not care for seeing names of other companies associated with Banyana when they're the ones who sponsor that team.I think sponsors give money to SAFA and set their sponsorship terms and conditions that mostly pertains to getting the right exposure for their brand, I don't think it extends to them telling SAFA how much money they should pay each player, so SAFA has a whole lot of discretion in how money is spent, because they derive their salary and other costs from the same funding from the same funding. And the fact that they are sticking to this stupid name makes it horrible.Horrible? No, lacking in creativity, yes.
Just call them by their original name and support them, just like you still refer to the OR Tambo airport as Jan Smuts. And the fact that they are sticking to this stupid name makes it horrible.
Call me whatever, but I not supporting any team and even less a national team who calls themselves "Banyana Banyana" or even "Bafana Bafana".
Maybe when they grow up and change their name to Proteas I will reconsider supporting them.
