South Africa's bloated cabinet size compared to top countries

They can employ 1 or a million ministers, the only difference will be the amount of money being stolen by them. The work they need to do... well, they are there to steal and not work, they have proven that over the last 25 years.

Bloated cabinet indeed, half of those cabinet members can be removed. Also, R2.4mil a year salary for what?

Such huge salaries for doing something of no real economic value - imagine these salaries were cut in half or quarter and people applied because they actually wanted to make a difference, you know, a Social Servant.

Its not as though we can even justify the salary by saying that the performance was equally matched to the remuneration..

So not that bloated. The only reason Cyril is reducing the size of his cabinet is because it's probably the most effective way to remove rivals/Gupta Loyalists

Reducing the size of cabinet doesn't cut down on the function of government, it just places more responsibility on fewer people. These fewer people will delegate more but at least the buck stops with them, so we will be able to blame them when things go wrong.

Your joking.
When has anyone been held responsible for the epic ****ups, huh?

In fairness we have a whole lot more **** to get sorted out the.

The cabinet size isn’t exponentially outrageous.

America’s system especially is also so much different and more complex it’s hardly a fair comparison.

Exactly. Too many people too keep happy not performing, that's why we need so many musical chairs cabinet seats.

This filters into all SOE's - this culture of non-performance is just shrugged away, no urgency to get work done

There is a graph doing the rounds on internet. It shows the salaries of MP's vs. average salary/GDP per Capita. The world's average is around 6.5x
When Mandela came to power he wanted to make the people in SA more equal. He mentioned the rather large salaries of MP's under the previous government and pointed out India. In India the ratio is more like 2.5 : 1 In the racist South Africa it was around 6 : 1. Guess what, today in South Africa the PM's to GDP per capita earnings ratio has shot up to 46 : 1!!! Go figure.

In Private Corporations you get fired, in Government you get moved else where..

In private corporations you get asked to leave, and usually they ask you to leave quietly by adding butter.
