In private corporations you get asked to leave, and usually they ask you to leave quietly by adding butter.

And in the SA government you get promoted.

In private business it works in a fairly similar manner although usually you get a job at another company. But generally top executives get paid off to make them go away, then they move straight on to another job. Getting kicked out usually requires some very serious breaches though. Simple incompetence might only result in getting a big bonus rather than a huge bonus.
