Most affordable website hosting packages in South Africa

Having an online presence is critical for businesses in the modern age, and a MyBroadband analysis has revealed that local businesses can get a basic website hosting package for as little as R39 per month.

Offering low-priced hosting packages isn't easy for South African hosting providers. Absolute Hosting managing director Jade Benson recently told MyBroadband about the challenges local providers face.

I’m here for the comments
First comment.

Why not use Facebook instead? Many a business these day does their promotion via FB instead, well FB and Whatsapp. You can do banking via Whatsapp already.

And then ironically some countries are run via Twitter or X as now known. America wants to declare war on someone.....wait there is a Tweet.

Second comment: Many of the hosting resellers I used in the past, are resellers of hosting packages on servers abroad. Also, if you're attempting anything like this your servers should be in a datacentre, in which case the argument about load reduction and loadshedding is not applicable. Last time I checked at IS in town, there was no shortage of backup power.

Third comment. Because browsing FB when you're not logged in is a pain. So anyone browsing at work where they don't want to log in to FB / they don't have FB are immediately frustrated with your business.

In that same breath if your business is over paying, and you not trying to optimise running expenses.
Your business going to run in to bigger problems.

There is difference between penny wise pound foolish and good business sense and optimisation.

If your business has to resort to the cheapest possible web hosting packages, you've got bigger problems to focus on.

There’s no risk of overpaying for web hosting in the bottom-end shared space.

And the bigger issue anyway is how you got there. Does the typical business just hop into web hosting? No - they probably don’t even have anything to host. Web developers usually organise web hosting. And if your web developer is using hosting on this level, there is a high risk their web dev skills are similarly bottom-end and you’re slumming it across the board.
