South Africa's electricity crisis hits in 2021

Burns my a@@ to comment but really can't the government or their ancillary get anything right even once. For goodness sake over and over again

Well considering Koeberg dropped a unit a month earlier than scheduled this was expected.

Given the times I'm fairly certain that they are trying to conserve diesel reserves.

This really is a miserable country. I hope my children can get out soon.
Push them to get good grades, and overseas will beg them to come over. Lots of opportunities across the pond .

Also Kusile unit 2 was supposed to come online in October, it never did, Camden was supposed to come online start of August, it went off again a couple of days later with the same issue.
Kendal was only supposed to have one unit removed to fix the emissions at a time, they took down 2. Otherwise they'd be slapped with a 5 million rand fine, though it costs far more a day with load shedding (during the day).

Whats is happening? The refer to breakdowns. Shouldn't that be called unplanned maintenance?

Electricity Crisis has been around since the anc took over

So with Covid, a lot of companies shut down, a lot of people lost their houses, etc etc. All of that leads to lower demand and the muppets running the circus still cant keep the lights on. Perhaps we should do this, The next Eskom bailout is instead used to supply every household with solar. Then Eskom can redirect all of their generation capacity to keeping govt buildings power on. They might at a push be able to do that.
