South Africa's mobile prices are expensive, very expensive

Would like to hear the Big 3's spin on this...

This is very old news! Yet it is good that it made the headlines again. Lots of money is wasted on sports sponsorships, at the cost of the poorest of the poor. Paupers fund the fun princes enjoy.

It is killing small business and making it impossible for young upstarts to survive.

This and the petrol price is more damaging than even the lotteries are. Something has to be done to make it really affordable so that more can participate in the economy, stimulate growth.

Also, why does the MTN prepaid customer have to pay R149 for 1GB data whilst a contract subscriber gets it at around R70? Why discriminate against those who need it the most?

This is a non-violent country and no-one will get screwed by price fixing, monopolies or the government.

I find it fascinating how starkly this contrasts with statements made by our local companies. All while we knew that we are getting a raw deal. CEOs of major companies should not so blatantly lie to their customers. I mean what does it tell us about them? Do they like being known as liars? Is that something they are comfortable with? I'd like to get their feedback on these questions...

They are hurting economic growth and the sooner the politicians realise that the better.

*Sigh* Correct!! And yet, so evidently that...

They are hurting economic growth and the sooner the politicians realise that the better.

And

Vodacom and MTN have been setup as high profit corporates. Their shareholders are to enjoying substantial return on investment, hence the mandate from shareholders to top management is... "do everything possible to keep our dividends high... we'll reward you hansomely with performance bonusses, shares and profit share... screw the customer if you must...".

And the we all sit here and wonder why it's taking so long for things to change! They don't want it to!

Ummmm... you placing way to much trust & believe in our ANC politicians, most are too dof to click, many are in the back pockets of these large corporations, and frankly these corporates are just too smart for the vast majority of them!

Red keeps quiet whenever price is mentioned here,
yellow didn't comment before the deadline(ever),

I wonder what black and blue have to say about this.
