It takes three minutes for the house to be completely aflame from the start of the blaze. Your average lounge flammability is the equivalent of about 50 litres of petrol. Unless they can respond and be fighting fire within three minutes, the house and contents are a write off anyway. Their main purpose is to ensure the fire doesn't spread to the neighbours.

I've been to many fires even a thatch or two and it takes longer that.
You cannot generalize like that and not expect to be called out.

Every house is different as are the contents and every fire is also different.

UK does :) (ok, ex-EU)

London Fire Brigade (LFB) is to charge businesses for call outs if they attend more than 10 false alarms in a 12-month period, from 1 January.

West Midlands Fire Service has started charging for call-outs to non-emergency incidents. Anyone requesting help with problems like animal rescues and lock outs

Calling out fire brigade will now cost £400 per hour Calling the fire brigade out to help pump away flood water or rescue a trapped pet will now cost more than £400 per hour in parts of Britain.

So, not if your house is on fire.....

Ever done any fire fighting or courses? I'm talking average, Thatch is less flammable than some materials.

It’s horrible to have your house burnt down. My childhood home was partially destroyed by a fire. The house was okish but the things inside destroyed. No baby photos.
There are things inside a house money can not replace. No matter how well you are covered.

Wht is happening to the money that are supposed to be going to these departments? Ooh wait. We need to rename stuff.

so let me get this straight,
if you call the emergency services (112), (if) they turn up,
they charge you for their extravagance,

is this normal? I mean all over the world, aren't emergency services free, paid for with your taxes?

are things that bad, that even the firemen, have to ask you directly for cash?
what next? the police ask for a donation before hauling you to jail?

I mean what is this Cyberpunk, night city?
where one of the in-game videos mentioned giving police officers donations to "Thank them for a job well done"

No, you pay for it. Not a new thing.

Well I last reported a small bush fire they never charged me a dime
Never took my ID number or home address to even add it to my muni bill
He just showed up and I helped him put it out as he was the only one on standby

I had an medical emergency last year, my wife called our local paramedic who called ER24 ambulance. They did nothing but take my blood pressure. Sent me a bill for R3K.

capitalisim when it works is great,
when its used as a excuse for looting and incompetence, not so much.

Emergency services should be free, otherwise why pay taxes?
isnt that the whole idea behind paying rates and taxes?

if everybody contributes a little, the Government can give something back,
when your House is on fire, you can call them,
and they will do their part to save you when you most need it.

so now when you call 112, are you telling me, the Agent on the line
starts tallying up how much its going to cost you, before they send the call to the Firemen?

The only legitimate use of tax is defense, security, courts and roads.
