South Africa's power lifeline frays as Eskom scrambles for diesel

For the Eskom owned OCGT's they are 100% responsible for maintenance.

But also the maintenance will be considerably more pressing, I would assume an OCGT will work and within a short order of missing a scheduled maintenance window it will go *poof* and stop working.
If its any form of turbine design, it will go more than poof. Likely shred itself.

So when is Christ Yelland taking over Eskom? Still waiting on his CEO application as well as Ted Blom's

/myshares has spoken
Also where does he get that units 1,2,3 are off till next year? There has been no word on that from Eskom their estimates were this year, not 2024.

Falls into... "trusted in tech" and "responsible reporting" which we know is key, right?

/sources (and numbers) is my secret

I’m told that Ankerlig uses General Electric OGGTs. Modified GE CF6 jet engines.

Eskom's Ankerlig and Gourikwa OCGT to CCGT upgrades approved but never implemented - 20% fuel saving.

Q. Does Eskom pay RAF and other levies on diesel?
Yes, that would have been good if it was implemented. The recommended maintenance intervals are similar for most makes of gas turbines. These are: Combustor inspection at 8,000 equivalent operating hours and 24,000 equivalent operating hours for hot section overhaul. Very seldom do they let go unexpectedly. Usually plenty of symptoms before they do.

Hit Stage 8, opposition parties call for early election, ANC gets toppled and a coalition govt wins majority.... And we would still be stuck with at least Stage 6 loadshedding for the foreseeable future
But with a plan to fix it
