South Africa's IT agency is hiring 27 people — and paying up to R1.1 million a year

South Africa's State Information Technology Agency (SITA) currently advertises 27 vacancies at several nationwide offices.

The agency is responsible for consolidating and coordinating South Africa's IT resources to bolster the efficiency of government departments and public entities.

The salary ranges for the Senior Dev and DevOps Engineer aren't too bad, but not too wow. Their salary bands are probably better than most SA companies that hire IT engineers of sorts, hahaha.

Most SA companies pay "market average" rates which are shockingly low. These rates are good for people who want to sell themselves short or do not know their value.

Those salaries are the base pay to get your foot in the door. If you schmooze enough then after 6 months you can get a upper management job, and that is when the real money kicks in with the tender fraud and looting.

This is government in a nutshell.

The salaries are too high for the skills that most state employees have. And too low for people with the real skills.
