So glad my vote had a part in this GNU. FFS.

Blame "delinquency rate" instead of questioning whether a TV licence is even ethical considering the switchover to digital with many not getting the set top boxes thus unable to access the government propaganda machine. Then genuinely question why the SABC cannot survive off other revenue like advertising.

Taxing TV is just desperate and will get you nowhere in a 3rd world country that already taxes higher than first world counterparts.

It started as a tax revolt against Zuma and Hlaudi. Now people have just given up on the SABC.
(I do wish the radio stations will survive. The TV stations have lost all value.)

SABC target market refuse to pay for anything.

And as far as private sector partnerships go I would tell these IDIOTS to go fly a kite.

Nothing is going to change except the LOSS.

I looked for, but found no useful content graph. 🤷‍♂️

Fix content and people may watch it, ad revenue depends on it.

This is like blaming a spouse for not being loving towards the other, but that other one is a terrible cheat, violent, never present, unloving, and manipulative. Fix the issues before looking for a rosy outcome, it's basic.

Can we close the doors now please? ... we know it's dropping and there's no need to wait till it reaches 0%

It's like waiting for new years when you're too tired to keep an eye open. You know it's coming, but decide to lose your last chance of early sleep for the year to see some ouks shooting underwhelming fireworks and drunk folks screaming ta the top of their hubbly smoke-filled lungs to songs they'd usually be too embarrassed to be seen listening to. It's completely reasonable behaviour.

Just praying that my current 65 inch TV outlasts this stupid regime.
Then when they finally chuck it I can upgrade....

For perspective, your TV uses on average about 100 kWh annually. At the current municipal rates above R3.90 that's more than a TV licence. At the proposed 43% increase it would be more than two years' worth or licence fees.
