South Africa's water crisis is the next load-shedding
A report released by the South African government paints a grim picture of the country’s water resources and water infrastructure as well as the overall quality of its drinking water. [The Conversation]
We started with water shedding in January already. Mathabeng municipality closes the valves supplying Welkom with water at 18:00 each night and open them again around 06:00. By that time there may be around 6 to 10% of water in the reservoir feeding Welkom and by 09:0 the area we stay it in, being the highest, is without water for the rest of the day.

We are blessed to have a borehole on our plot, place never had Eskom so I put in a big solar plant.

I do feel sorry for people with children.

We've been on rainwater tanks for most of the month. Apart from a slight lag it's barely noticeable that we're not using mains supply.

We have 12KL storage which seems to be a sustainable amount given the amount of rain we've been experiencing... which is itself is odd since we're apparently in a habitual drought area.

So you guys either have no power, water or even both? Why? Infrastructure & incompetence. Jeez, seriously a 3rd world country.

Matjhabeng owes billions in unpaid bills to the water supplier and they in turn cannot do proper maintenance. The infrastructure is in serious need of upgrading and repairs. Most of the pumpstations are either without working pumps or uses pumps not suitable or capable of delivering the required water flow. Only 2 of the three 1000mm dia pipeline from Balkfontein waterworks are still functional.

Theres no winners in overpopulation per area whatever that area be, a continent, a Country, a province, a state, whatever. The human brain does not have it in it to handle overpopulation versus resources and money game.

We now know that the top6 know?
WHAT ARE THEY DOING ABOUT IT ?
isn't inaction dereliction of duty ?

Is it lawful to homestead virgin land, in SA?
