South Africa's R89-billion wind power boom

Over the past decade, South Africa’s wind industry has attracted more than R89 billion in investments, creating over 23,000 jobs and powering over three million homes annually.

This is according to the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA), the country’s only wind energy association.

Good idea. Just install a turbine or two over Parliament... free renewable energy. And when they've outlived their useful lifespan, pop them in a chamber and you get free biogas.

This is great and all very well but all the wind farms and solar farms are in the Cape Area, the demand for power there is much less that Gauteng, and we read that the current transmission lines from the Cape to the northern provinces cannot carry any more power, so what is being done to address that issue. It's all very well to address the power issues, but what use is it if the areas that need it the most cannot use it!?
