Hey, at least they've upped their offer by 30%.

Be happy for that guys, Eskom can now break even. Electricity is like broadband, we can give them capped accounts for R150 but just pay that bit extra and you get the wonderous uncapped stuff and you can just use as much as you want.

Don't forget a Fair Use Policy limiting the line after the first 50KWh! :p

Cut off their power until they pay like they would with anyone else.

If they get violent deploy police.

If they get even more violent deploy the military.

Tired of lawlessness just being tolerated. The country can't move forward until there are consequences for our actions.
ANC would never allow this
We are talking about the majority voters here

Soweto residents want unlimited electricity for R200 per month

Soweto residents are calling for a flat rate of R200 per month for electricity, saying they cannot afford anything more.

Speaking to ENCA, community leader Michael Mosiuoa said many Soweto residents are pensioners who cannot afford high electricity prices.
Then have a seperate pricing structure for pensioners. I'm also certain that pensioners can apply for a rebate. If people pushing this idea were serious, they'd come up with better ideas than a flat rate for everyone in the area. This is just an attempt to game a pricing system which is already unfair towards people living in other areas.

Reality is many people at grassroots level are finding it impossible to survive, far more literally so than us privileged complaining about taxes. The solution is free market principles, competition, infrastructure development and education, all which have job creation, higher salaries and higher living standards as result. Socialists and Marxists can piss right off.

ANC really can't afford to ignore those loyal ANC voters. LMAO.

SA is really going to become another failed African state

Great idea. Then they can sub contract their R200 uncapped electricity back to Eskom to feed the grid, and everyone can get cheap electricity!

I want to go to Makro and I want to pay R200 and leave with a stove, fridge and washing machine every month. I think the people at any Makro's facial expressions will be priceless!

In all seriousness though, most lessors and guest houses has already seen how impractical free / uncapped water and electricity is: Nothing like leaving the electric stove on all night to heat up the house.

Or as stated above, subsidizing a crypto farm...

If they want unlimited electricity, they can go and install their own PV panels like the rest of us.
