Turn them all off.

Let them regress to the stone age.

The sense of entitlement in Soweto is unbelievable. I'm sure if they got electricity for 1c per unit they would still bitch and moan and burn down municipal buildings and block roads.

The only people to blame for this is the ANC with their ridiculous BEE appointments and tenderpreneurship over at Eskom. If Eskom was efficient we would have the ability to supply the poor with cheap electricity while keeping rates reasonable for the rest of the paying public.

They have failed the poor even and yet the poor continue to vote them and their useless policies into power.

The BS the ANC told them in the past to "buy" votes is turning against them but still the idiots will vote for the cANCer.

I don't think prepaid electricity meters will help much, if at all. This will just spur on more illegal connections and at the end of the day cost the state more in damages than the revenue the meters can possibly bring in

Yep, they are trying a 1st world solution to a 3rd world problem. This will just make the problem worse and EVERY single person will have an illegal connection then

Soweto residents protest against pre-paid electricity meters

Soweto residents blocked a main road in the area on Thursday in protest against pre-paid electricity meters, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) said.

Of course they do. The ANC has nurtured a culture of entitlement among their support base. One day in the future this "we demand" culture will bite them in the ass when the hoi poloi start to realise they continually voted a morally corrupt & self-enrichment political party into power. A party that only looks after the select few (but ever-increasing) 'connected' cadres

Then the law (lol) needs to get tough (lol) on the owners/tenants of properties with illegal connections.

At the current rate of cadre employment I might even stand a chance of becoming a cadre. If you're reading this, Mr. Zoomer, I'd like my Maserati in red, please :)
