At the current rate of cadre employment I might even stand a chance of becoming a cadre. If you're reading this, Mr. Zoomer, I'd like my Maserati in red, please :)
You failed the qualifying test.
The correct method of asking is "I demand my Maseratinin red. Now!"

Yep, they are trying a 1st world solution to a 3rd world problem. This will just make the problem worse and EVERY single person will have an illegal connection then

This has nothing to do with "1st world solutions in a 3rd world country" and everything to do with basic economics.
Someone has to pay for the "free" electricity and the more people and business' start self provisioning the worse the situation will become.
What will happen when the average consumer and business runs off solar PV and Eskom has too few paying customers to cover the maintenance costs of power distribution systems and power plants?
Do you think the fiscus would have R50 billion to R100 billion to bail out Eskom every year to pay for all the people who want "free" electricity?

The ANC made this mess through all their empty promises of everything being for free and they're doing nothing to instil law and order but the wheel turns and this chaos is going to come back to bite them.
I quite enjoy watching this self imploding circus which is too self absorbed to see the writing on the wall.

Did they actually buy the promise of free electricity blah blah blah? Now who is to pay for the "free" services?

The sense of entitlement in Soweto is unbelievable. I'm sure if they got electricity for 1c per unit they would still bitch and moan and burn down municipal buildings and block roads.

Soweto has a population of over 1 million people, I don't think you can generalise about Soweto based on the actions of some unruly residents

Just like some politicians cannot generalise about people who sing Die Stem?

In a statement published on Heritage Day, the political party [ANC] called it “a song of oppressors, racists and mass murderers”.

Wrong thread?

Right thread, just pulling some snippets in for comparison.

Yes, I am guilty of generalisation in my previous comment, but the point in case (in fear of sounding very un-PC) is that this behaviour is more commonly found in townships and Soweto in general when the issue of electricity is touched.

Eskom said it had not sent its workers back to the area since Tuesday, when it was forced to withdraw them after residents threatened to harm them.

That is zero progress since May 2015 when Soweto residents rioted.

Now, Soweto wins again and others continue to pay Soweto's debts.

These people can afford to pay for electricity. They choose not to.

Half of Orlando West residents own 'electric stoves, washing machines and vacuum cleaners, which are all known for their high consumption of electricity'.

They know violence and threats always win.

When do those who pay get a free ride?

Where is the leadership?

That's what happens when you "let go" of a lot of things during negotiations. The masses wil make you pay forever. If they can steal from us and you let them keep it, we'll steal from you instead and make yo upay for it. ;)
