Alcock explained that these businesses are seeing exponential growth due to two factors:

Township residents who live in 1-bedroom backrooms do not want to cook food in those rooms.
Load-shedding and other power outages makes it difficult to cook food, which drives people to fast-food alternatives.
I wonder if there is a market for "public kitchens" in townships. You can pay X amount for the use of counter space, utensils and stoves/ovens etc, with an additional cost if you want to rent fridge space.

Could even have an Mzollies (?) type vibe where you can bring your own braai meat along and pay someone to cook it for you while you prepare your sides in the kitchen.

You have dedicated people to clean up after the patrons so you don't end up with a health hazard.

That idea has reached your mind for a reason. The question is whether you are going to do anything about it

yeah, there definitely is a market for that.

I'm from Chicago and there are businesses that have done that, eg: https://thehatcherychicago.org/

they provide shared and private kitchen space, office space, tutoring, finance, etc. pretty much a 360° solution for anyone looking to move beyond cooking in their home and start an actual "real" business.
