I need as much info I can get on the following two LCD's. Any info and help will be appreciated.

Wharfedale WH46
Sansui SV4600

Anyone who use one of these? If I auto setup my PS3 (holding the power button for a few seconds) it chooses 1080i as optimal settings. If I manually set it to 1080p it works perfectly so as far as I know that means that the LCD does support 1080p.

If I watch a Blu-Ray or normal DVD on my LCD using my PS3 I get a very bad quality picture. It doesn't matter if I set the PS3 to 1080p, 1080i or 720p.

Any idea?

I'm using the WH46 but strangely my PC pics it up as a SV4600.

The Wharfedale is a rebranded Sansui, which is a rebranded Chinese make....

Which is why you'll get conflicting names when you interogate parts of the TV digitally.

Sony is manufactured in China, Europe, South Africa, etc..... So if you get one where does it come from??? Ever thought about that?

I went to Hi Fi corp and Tafelberg Furnishers this morning to have a look at their HD setups. After I left I didn't worry about my setup anymore. Seeing that even those LEDTV's looks give the same quality picture as my Wharfdale.

My fault in the first place. I only realised now that I can't sit closer than 2meters from the 46" and not see any "grainy" pictures.

3 - 4 meters and even further and it looks excellent.

Could it not be the copy of the DVD?
Its very weird that a BR disc in a BR machine with HDMI cables and HDMI channel will give you a picture thats bad... even if you have a crap tv!:p

I got it for free so why would I complain if its not Samsung or Sony.

My PS3 games looks stunning on that. GT5 in full 1080p resolution is the best quality game I've played.

Doesn't sound right. 1m in front of a 40'' bravia s blue ray looks pretty damn fantastic.

The questions begs, what is on the BluRay media, Some titles are just a copy of standard DVD quality movie and sound written to a BD rom. The problem is that many do not read the fine print specs on the back of the disk cover. It SHOULD say what the contents specs is or best rather is to check on the net as Ster Kinekor print their own covers locally and they SELDOM put all the right specs on the cover. I once called them because they printed the wrong audio format on a DVD and I was told they print the info on the covers as per the majority as received by batch, that means if most of the DVD's are Dolby 5.1 then that is what they will print on the labels. They will not print the additional DTS ES/EX on the label as well as the Dolby 5.1 is also valid.

Piesang : My comment isn't about where its manufactured per se... but more about how etc...

Most of the "lower" quality brands in this country are just rebranded chinese brands. Thats not to say they're bad, but they're just rebrands which is why you will sometimes get conflicting info as to what it is when you interogate the software on the TV itself.

My Sinotech reports as something completely different when I actually interogate the logic boards...
