Your speed is back and mine is gone. :confused:

Since this morning my connection has been going at snail speed 0.8kb/s.....thats what i get when i do telkom speed test!

Yesterday it was 120kb/s. Email techie at wbs today....he told me network is running fine. :eek:

Sir indeed it is not running fine!

It was slower earlier today as far as i remember DL was around 666kbits, but now back up to speed. :cool:

Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:

* Download time: 3.156 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 1292.8 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 158.4 (kiloBytes/second)

A little O/T but has anyone ever checked the powersupply voltage that is going into the UTD when it is connected and under load?

Hmm, yeah that would be interesting to know, I would be curious to know what the difference is between an idle modem and a modem under heavy load.

slimothy and others, don't take this the wrong way, but I feel the need to point this out to you. I understand that iBurst is much faster than anything else out there. I too loved the speed. But don't you feel it's frustrating having speed the one moment and then it dying for several minutes/hours/days before getting restored again?

I personally have not heard from anyone in Australia experiencing the same problems, and perhaps I could be wrong... but seriously. I'd rather much have a stable product than have one that works the one moment and not the next.

My boss always goes, "well if its not working now and it did, fix it" <-- not that I have a clue what could have gone wrong, but I need to fix it and usually do within days, where our uptime is then increased and our stability.

Yet I feel that iBurst has this time and again and simply don't care enough for their consumers to fix the problem once and for all (whatever that may be!)

I guess you guys are happy with what you're getting, I mean, life is more exciting this way, you never know what you'll get... but on the other hand, you pay for it... then again, if you pay a hooker you might get aids... ahahahaha... okay so whatever

just let my point sink in :D

If the voltage deviates more than say 5% under load. It's a really crap power supply :)

I made up a patch lead with the correct plug and socket and tested the powersupply output.

Output was 9.01vdc not connected to the UTD and dropped to 8.92vdc when connected and did not vary at all when the modem was idle or downloading a 10mb file.
Still need to do an upload test.

Since I have a good connection in general I did not expect it to drop much and it is within 1%

Would be interresting to know what others with varying connections find with their powersupplies.

Sorry about the slightly off topic but in a way it can relate to varying speeds.

Update: I UL a 2mb file to my gmail and there was no change in the voltage, stayed stable at 8.92vdc.

course I'm not happy when it slows down, but in my own deence I usssually find my own ways to get around all the elaborate systems WBS put in place to get my kibbies. On the whole, my speed is fine now and Ive been doing alot of stuff away from the computer in the day lately so not too deterred by day time speeds (which suck apparantly). Look for me its about speed, I would be on ADSL if it had more speed, clipse made an interesting post about how he thinks anyone who doesnt have adsl can't get it or cant afford it, I can do both but wont untill its actually fast. if sentech release an unshared 4mbit plan tomorrow i'd be on it, if iburst released a 2mbit plan today i'd be on it, thats my main criteria and since i'm on a stable base station my experience is great. I think when more JHB base stations come up in problem areas other peopel will get thier speed too, but by then 1mbit adsl will probably be available.
