Hi

Our Telkom Router Pots is connected to a 3com/10/100mbps switch.
Acording to the switch the speed is only 10mbps.
The fly lead is brand new.
Can the Telkom Router only do 10mbps?[?]

Ok, then Im not sure as I use a Zyzel and although it has a 10 and a 100 led light, it always settles on the 100.
My comment about the cable was more relevant to my own experience when making my own cables. If one of the wires is wrong when you crimp them you might get only 10Mb transfer on that particular cable.

They only sell the one router that I'm aware of.

BTTB has mentioned the Zyxel and the Netgear is another modem I'm aware of that does 10/100.

The question I have is what difference is this gonna make[?] Okay a faster connection to the router but it will not influence the browsing speed, if anything minimal. The router would basically be able to send data to your computer faster, but it is still receiving it very slowly from the internet side.

The bottle neck is still going to be your 512K line[?]

Am I missing something[?]

It won't matter with the DSL speed, but if your router has a built in hub with 100mbs and you have a couple of PC's connected up directly to the router, it speeds up things like large file copies.

It does not matter much. The bandwidth it has to deliver is a 20th of what the cable is giving you. The speed between PC's is what matters. On your LAN that is. The network speed from the ADSL router will never be more than the bandwidth Telkom provides...

Cheers
