Speed

I think he means that his Iburst connection is giving him 200Kbps instead of 1mbit and then he concludes in a gracefull manner that in the UK if you get a 2mbit line you will get 2mbit.

In my opinion, if you don't like it then don't use it, or better yet go back to England.
Before we sling the 'be off with you xenophobe'. I'm British and I'd like to say I'm totally amazed by the technology Iburst brings. It will never be as competitive (cost) as broadband in the UK or Japan for instance because the infrastructure is already there, under the ground to every household. But as far as mobile Internet goes, Iburst wins, and smacks the overpriced types such as, Vodacom, Vodafone, MTN, Sentech and Telkom for six.
Iburst is a breathe of fresh air, and has provided me the ability to surf and work without being tied down to long contracts, crazy line rentals+ISP charges or installation queues. Congratulations SA and Iburst, and most of all for the sunshine!

iburst still have one of the most expensive extra bandiwdth costs, their network is degrading and their policies are worse then sentech, telkom and the mobile networks.

besides, complaining about speeds only reinforces to iBurst that they must keep on their toes and keep our lines pumping. comapring iburst to England or any other country further reinforces the idea to any iBurst orcs hanging out reading this forum that they still have along way to go before the will be a 'breath of fresh air'.

In what way? Don't be vague be specific!

Do you know the capabilities of the iBurst Technology?

Telkom and about a thousand other ISP's when it comes to buying extra bandwidth.

In what way? Don't be vague be specific!
shaping
email policies
banning policies
death after cap
support
accounting

Do you know the capabilities of the iBurst Technology?
more importantly, do iBurst know the capability of iBurst technology?

Also I do not sell the product in question and therefore have no investment in it and can speak the truth instead of typical south african 'our technology is great so our company must be great' mentality.

But sometimes when you sell stuff you have to lie

I know i am in the marketing industry. I help south african companies lie everyday.

Well provide links so I can go and view these 'additional bandwidth purchase options' that's so much cheaper than iBurst. Come now.

Firstly have you logged these problems and asked for a reference number....?

Shaping Hmmmmmmmm......be more specific!Well if you check the package structures you will note that the larger the package the better the overall shaping is per protocol stack.....I have yet to come accross any of my customers complaining about it...if my customers complain that's when support and proper customer service comes to their aid

What email policies? the send via SMTP.WBS.....thing? If you have trouble then ask your other ISP or mail host if they actively run SMTP authentication and then just authenticate against your own mail server ????  Why not just do that?Besides that.......having an SMTP that sits inside another network is a waste of your bandwidth and time I hope you realise that.....as it takes longer to send your mail from your PC to your hosted mail elsewhere.....so WBS's SMTP does all the work for you....I saved alot of time using it......DNS resolution to find the mail server outside blah blah...etc.SMTP.WBS...works!And if you have a mail server of your own what's wrong with using SMTP.WBS.....to relay mail for you??It works.....So please elaborate ......

Banning policies ????? Elaborate.....

Death after cap???? Lol I have heard of this but not from any of my customers..so maybe those that are abusing a G1 account and DLing like 21Gig off it are getting the chop.......I mean the bigger the package the the cheaper the overall cost per Gig.What's so expensive about R179 for a Gig,that's like 17c.......so lantic is 10c /MB......is this the cheaper alternative you talking about.......?????What other wireless solutions offer a cheap additional bandwidth purchase option????Please list. Coz if you comparing this to DSL that's a real fair comparison....

Scenario:

I mean I walk down the road with my iBurst wow mobile........someone with DSL gonna look real sexy with their DSL cables hanging over their shoulder......not to mention the kind of distance they gonna get from their Point of Entry in the network..

Support.......aaaahhh support.....lol....well as far as I can see for a company that's been running a commercial ISP for just over a year....and a couple of days....it's not too bad....*Yes I agree generally support in SA sucks*....I call in I get service *who knows may not be the best service but it's considerably better than most companies I have experienced*....I get ETA for problem resolution.....I get problem outlay.....but there is a mutual respect from my team and I, towards the WBS staff and we receive the same level of respect from them...in addition to trust....as I don't blurt out the problems publically...all a customer needs to know is there is a problem and it's being attended to as a matter of urgency.
WBS understands cusotmer service and support are imperative I'm sure, otherwise there wouldn't be any customers.....make sense? What's nice is their incident report and netowrd status report........which does in fact work....believe me....
Much better than being kept in the dark......or have you been kept in the dark?

That's a bold statement to make there.....I'm sure they do know it's capabilities....otherwise they wouldn't have implemented it now would they.

What do you know about the iBurst technology?Care to share with us?

You have to understand a few things and one of them is.......WBS is running a business here not Non Profit Organisations........the iBurst implementation is in it's infancy I mean a year has gone by...come on....I can also speak the truth about it....the iBurst technology is great *it's not SA's techonolgy....*it's an investement in technology from major players and if it wasn't any good it wouldn't be in production....I got someone to drive me around CPT to check uptime and within the scope of coverage it did not drop once!Result.....Biz customers who need resource availability all the time any time.....product concept sold!Parents who want their kids to do research, homework, projects the moment they get home from school not after '7pm' and manage a fixed cost solution in their budget.......concept sold!Enuf examples for now....

Then I wouldn't want to ever do business with you......ethical business leaders are what customer wants not liars! You lie---->you sell a product once off! You don't lie or cheat a customer---> you get long term business from that pleased customer...simple principle try it! ;)

So please do post all these resources that you used to make tyour claims I woudl love to see the bandwidth costs.......

actually not all of use feel like twiddling knobs n **** to get our email working. also when you send from a domain that is relayed by another domain that email is considered junk mail by outlook. this issue has been resolved by iburst for me.

Banning policies ????? Elaborate..... read the forums from about a year ago

Death after cap???? Lol I have heard of this but not from any of my customers..so maybe those that are abusing a G1 account and DLing like 21Gig off it are getting the chop....... drivel drivel drivel

Support.......aaaahhh support.....lol....well as far as I can see for a company that's been running a commercial ISP for just over a year....and a couple of days....it's not too bad....* drivel drivel drivel

i couldnt care if the company is 1 hour old. they should be offering decent support the moment they have a support number.

That's a bold statement to make there.....I'm sure they do know it's capabilities....otherwise they wouldn't have implemented it now would they.

do you actually read these forums?

Wow is that with or without a monthly DSL line charge???? any more bright sites?

https?

Hmmm must be a proxy problem, I dunno...I don't have any such problems being mentioned here on this site....weird but true....*some inside info I don't even have a great signal in this part of CPT, kinda way off any base station and the link is still reliable....:D....*.....what did WBS say when you logged the https problem and asked for a reference number?

actually not all of use feel like twiddling knobs n **** to get our email working. also when you send from a domain that is relayed by another domain that email is considered junk mail by outlook. this issue has been resolved by iburst for me.

You don't have to that's why there are resellers to assist you...

Banning policies ????? Elaborate..... read the forums from about a year ago

Hmmmmm point me in the right direction and I will gladly read it :D

so you acknowledge this. at last.

acknowledge what? LOL it's a scenario......I don't work for WBS....Hahaha....oh well

their pings sure are sexy

if you knew how iburst worked you would understand...but you do not.....you are in marketing.....dear friend. lol

i couldnt care if the company is 1 hour old. they should be offering decent support the moment they have a support number.

Agreed..... it is the basis of good customer service to provide a facility.....and infrastruscture which I guess they do I wouldn't know how involved their customer service is.....I know it is getting better and as long as it improves I congratulate them....I've heard stories of resellers telling their customer 's to F off...I've heard of resellers not supporting their customers...at least WBS try and help as far as possible you must have had a bad experience.....I take it.....

do you actually read these forums?

What is it that you want me to read.....I read it most of the time it's insightful and sometimes I feel sorry for you guys who get poor service....all I can say is maybe your concept of having to lie to market and sell a product is behind it......lol

hello and welcome to 2006. glad you could join us, please place your oldskool mentality at the door of 1999 thanks ;)

hello....lol don't get upset my boy....but give me some facts......regarding iBurst as a techinolgy sucking :D

lol is that your outlook on SA marketing??   My goodness you are quite cynical when it comes to alternative service offerings.:D

yawn.

Wow is that with or without a monthly DSL line charge???? any more bright sites?

as mentioned before i am taling about the cost of bandwidth. iBurst = very expensive.

Hmmm must be a proxy problem, I dunno.. drivel

hmmm... more like an iburst not knowing what they are doing problem.

You don't have to that's why there are resellers to assist you...

dont you mean rip us off? no thanks. i prefer the source.

Hmmmmm point me in the right direction and I will gladly read it

yawn... for someone who claims to know so much you certianly no nothing of the history.

acknowledge what? LOL it's a scenario......I don't work for WBS....Hahaha....oh well

i never claimed that... and it's iBurst. WbS aint exist anymore.

if you knew how iburst worked you would understand...but you do not.....you are in marketing.....dear friend. lol

new media marketing to be exact. working mainly with internet development and design as well as new mobile technologies and wireless technology. some of the things you sell i have marketed... so don't be too quick to make claims about my experience in the world of communications.

Agreed..... drivel drivel

yay. :D

I feel sorry for you guys who get poor service

finally you admit the poor service.

hello....lol don't get upset my boy....but give me some facts......regarding iBurst as a techinolgy sucking

you have misunderstood me at every turn. the technnology is great. the company and some resellers representing the iburst technology are not as you have agreed unwittingly in your numerous unconstructive remarks concerning the debate.

and no... to take anything personal from you would be very difficult considering i personally do not know you.
