Joburg and Pretoria speeding cameras out of action

Speed cameras across Johannesburg and Pretoria have been non-operational for more than a year as no service provider has been appointed to process fines.

In April 2022, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Xolani Fihla admitted that traffic officers had issued no fines since May 2021.

I'd be very carefull. I have seen speed cameras in Pretoria being replaced with the new yellow ones. No doubt someone has seen a business oppertunity and will be running the network of cameras on behalf of inept municipalaties and giving them a cut.

However it is the culture and authorities that do their work that makes the difference. You can have all cameras working in Gauteng or KZN or PE and it will make no difference.
