"It will allow motorists to opt to receive traffic fines in three ways:"

The postal service is dying, can't use that.

I get too many spam SMS messages, so I put that on silent.

And I strongly suspect they will trigger my spam filter with their emails.

Oh well...

Motorists will still get a 50% discount on the fine if they respond and pay within 32 days,
Didn't they double the fines a few months ago?

In the old days when we still had electricity they would just hop out from behind a bush to stop you.
So you're saying that during the Apartheid days we had electricity and that the traffic police were more vigorous? Kinda helps if you're only looking after 10% of africa having the rest in the closet?

The Johannesburg and Tshwane metro police departments have not issued any traffic fines for speed infringements caught on camera in more than three months.
Three? Try 12+ here in NMBM. Not sure if the contract here has been renewed yet.

It's been a few years since the cameras have worked in dbn. Everyone still drives normally.

Makes you wonder if the government will ever do anything successfully besides corruption.

I rarely see traps but man, lots and lots of stops here to check your license is renewed... its like the most popular Metro Cops event of 2020-2021.

I'm not complaining though. Also, I don't see a long string of major accidents and mass deaths and the apocalypse from the lack of speed traps. Makes you wonder...

You will always get the four subsections of people, a section hellbent on breaking the rules (taxis, speed freaks) , a section that does so on the odd occasion for fun, a fairly larger section that takes the law as a guide and not hard and fast rules (confession, I'm guilty of those, touch and go's at a lone stop, 70 in a 60), and then you get those hellbent on keeping the rules, every single day

This will stay with or without enforcement as a cop is not an omnipresent deity.

The only police presence I've seen in the last few years is on one specific stop street where they train up new rookies that fine the people that don't stop.
