IMO these robberies are just acts of EWC. LOL!

On a more serious note though I have lost faith in police of SA. Just seems like a bunch of criminals to me. :cautious:

Stand your ground law needs to be implemented in South Africa. If you threaten me or my family I should have the option to take the appropriate steps. I mean in Sundays Carte Blanche episode they had an interview with a victim who was assaulted severely for no apparent reason or the fact that they aren't even scared when the alarm gets triggered tells me there's something very wrong.

Go find a law that gives you the right to take an intruder down in your house or on your premises.
He can stand next to your baby's crib at 3am in the morning...you find him there it's expected of you to open a dialogue in the dark and sing khumbaya
This country is SO catering for "certain people"

You'd be able to claim defense of your child if you shoot him and you can prove the intruder is a trespasser (e.g. some stranger at 3am in your house...).

You'll first be accused of murder though, then you have to argue for it not being so.

You need to prove he was threatening you and/or your baby's life.
Some people don't get away ;)

You'll have to prove that someone actually went to prison in the case you presented, I doubt it.

Oh wow, so no other robberies in Joburg other than those committed against fidelity clients in Bryanston? That's good to hear.

Live in Bryanston, also an Adt customer and was robbed 3 weeks ago with a slightly different MO.

Not sure if it was related to this "keypad" crime (I don't have a keypad), but the resemblance is striking.

In my case thieves dressed up as contractors (complete with branded overalls, clipboards and measuring tape) and convinced domestic that they were sent by me. When she said she was going to phone me to confirm, they pretended to phone me.

Sadly have to adopt the mindset that everyone in SA is a criminal and change your habits, interactions accordingly... it always has to be on your mind that this person could potentially be looking to rob/rape/murder me... its sad, but thats the reality, security, police, doesn't matter, always be on your guard:crying:

We've had a lot of there brazen daytime break ins the past few months in my suburb, so many, all forced entry of motor gate and doors, across all security providers. So at least that shows this issue is limited to scope, probably to 1 or 2 rotten employees and hopefully the audit trail reveals who.

Would not surprise me if some other security company had orchestrated, and is complicit with known house robbers, with the aim of offering security service to panicky ex-ADT clients living in Bryanston. Would make for lovely marketing when robberies suddenly vanish from the area after said Security company had moved in.

Yup. Years ago had Trellidor come to one of our houses for a quote to add burglar bars in front of the windows. Got the quote, and a week or two later someone tried to break into the place. Never had a problem before, and it didn't look like they were trying to take anything in anycase.

****ing scum.

The VAT that the ANC government collects with people replacing the stolen items..........
The ANC Government will take a very long time in actually doing something about this.

Security service costs + cost to replace stolen items should be VAT zero rated. The former being as basic a necessity nowadays to sustain life as brown bread is, that is zero rated.

Contact crime is escalating dispite all our attempts at security best practices. Can one imagine what RSA would be like should the private security industry not exist....
