Is it just me or are things considerably worse this year in Cape Town?

As I type this my nasal passages are 95% blocked, I can feel my ear canals also fairly blocked, nose has been running the whole day and headache is ramping up.

Taking Fexofast 180 (is it meant to be one per day?) and it's not really helping much today. Whipped out the neti pot tonight and struggled to use it as I was 99.9% blocked up at the start.

I've been suffering to varying degrees the whole of October and about 5 days this month I've been pretty much useless to do anything other than deal with this affliction and its side effects :(

Besides pollen, is wheat a trigger? Any tips and tricks would be appreciated :)

Same in Joburg. It's the first year I've had difficulty breathing at night, constant cough and headache too.

My wife went for a expensive allergy test thing at a specialist in CPT. It was over a R1000 and he puts these little drops on your arm to see what you are allergic to.

She is most allergic to dust mites and then cat skin/dandruff. So pollen or plant stuff could not be the number one reason that you fools are suffering. Go to the specialist, she says she doesn't have so many headaches now after increasing cleaning routines as the doctor prescribed etc.

^ Fair enough, but why coincidentally once it got really windy and "Spring" arrived?

I've done the test three times in my life, I've even had during 2 years a desensitivization process which made it a lot better for some allergens (such as olive trees) but not for others.

It's consistently been trees for me, I've been checked for dust mites and I'm allergic at level 1 over 5 for it so it's clearly not that.

Trees and flowers sexually assaulting us  :(

What about nasal sprays, do those work well in conjunction with something like Fexofast?

I can't breathe through my nose so now I can't sleep. FML :(

I had that skin prick thing too. Allergic to Dust and Grass. When they said Grass it explained the hive I get when playing on grass. Looks like mosquito bites and itches for a while then they gone. Dust just kills my sinuses...

Yeah that skin sensitivity test - one would be the fool to assume we have not done this. Every place I have stayed I have tested: Rustenburg, Cape Town, Potch, Mafikeng, Joburg. And the results never change and the treatment does nothing. Grass, mielie blossoms or whatever they're called, etc etc etc are all high on the list. Dust was low but cats through the roof.

Got a cortisone shot. If still a problem in December then got a prescription for a spray. Can't read the doctors handwriting though :p
