Go and look at the injury tables across leagues more broken legs, fractured faces, broken hands per season then in cricket.

Gross number or as a percentage of players? I'd guess there are a lot more footie players than cricketers in the world.

It just occurred to me that the street advertising for the 2nd T20i at Wanderers all portray that Faf and KG will be in the Bull Ring and strutting their stuff. IIRC, they are being rested.

Question; is this false advertising? :p

It's the epitome of it, if you ask me.

I was considering going to the match here in Centurion, until I saw the squad.

It is a much weakened team sheet and may not have the pull of the bigger names, but still think they if they hit their straps, they should succeed in knocking over the Sri Lankans.

The Preview by Firdose Moonda http://www.espncricinfo.com/south-africa-v-sri-lanka-2016-17/content/story/1078434.html

South Africa: 1 Jon-Jon Smuts, 2 Heino Kuhn, 3 Theunis de Bruyn, 4 David Miller, 5 Farhaan Behardien (capt), 6 Reeza Hendricks, 7 Mangaliso Mosehle (wk), 8 Wayne Parnell, 9 Andile Phehlukwayo, 10 Dane Paterson, 11 Imran Tahir

Reeza Heendricks at no.6 will not work, he's not a big hitter.
My team:
1 Jon-Jon Smuts, 2 Heino Kuhn, 3 Theunis de Bruyn, 4 David Miller, 5 Farhaan Behardien (capt), 6 Mangaliso Mosehle (wk), 7 Wayne Parnell, 8 Andile Phehlukwayo, 9 Dane Paterson, 10 Imran Tahir, 11 Lungi Ngidi

Play extra bowler and trust the 2 big hitting all-rounders.

Who are the big-hitting all-rounders? Smuts, I am sure is one of them. Is Parnell the other?

I'll be watching tonight regardless. I am looking forward to seeing how this group of performers gel and if they can take a good fight to the Sri Lankans.

^, Andile, McT.

It's a good side based on what I've seen of local T20.

the team for this game really is a difficuilt one.

if the top 5 play like they have been playing all season, we wont need Andile to hold a bat at all.

but because most of the line ups have 6 to 7 new faces, the pressure of the international stage might just crush everyone.

honestly as long as Phangiso is not in the team the rest is fine.

Smuts makes the team as an opeing batsman his bolwing is a bonus. Parnell and Phehlukwayo is the lower order big hitters (I should have said lower order big hitters and not all rounders). If we need 20 runs is the final over and Hendricks is facing his first ball we will lose.

I am worried to be honest for this first game. This is a brand new combination and the most experienced players haven't played international cricket in a while. I think we may lose today's game but win the series.

Simply not enough time for the team to gel together enough to win the first game IMO

Do they sell the tickets at half price or something when a second string team is fielded?

I checked, but they're still full price. Apparently it's still nearly sold out, though.

EDIT: Actually, it's totally sold out.

I'll bet you most of those got sold before the team was announced. I'll rather go watch AB's comeback at Wollowmoore on Sunday.

Oh +1000... The skoonfamilie resides in Brakpan, so may as well make it a visit that benefits both me and the wife.

EDIT: According to TicketPros, that match is at the Wanderers?

I was watching the BBL the other day and I say McCullum T20 Total runs. and I thought wow, that is a lot, wonder who has the most.
I just looked it up.

Gale 9777(2005-2016)
Hodge 7338 ()
McCullum 7168 (2005-2017)

I kept scrolling and way down the List I found AB, and JP shortly behind him

I thought third place for SA would be Kallis or Hash. nope. its Miller.
DA Miller 4774 (2008-2016)

that really surprised me.

link for those interested

I know these records do not mean much, I mean JP is 7th on the T20I scoreboard ahead of Gale (11th) and AB(18th)

I just thought that was interesting and wanted to share that.
