Have to reiterate again the bowling attack it was against... View attachment 414006

None of them even have impressive provincial records, never mind franchise level.

Not saying it's good, but even Behardien could score 100 against those muppets. Let's not read too much into it - he did pretty much what was expected.

The point of the feat is to illustrate that he is free of injury and can now officially represent the Proteas.

It's not only about that game.

while I do agree with Hoender, we have to also say its the first time he has had a helmet on, stood on a cricket pitch, and had someone fling leather at him in order to get him out, in a very long time.

for someone of his skill, loosing concentration in a low key situation like that and edging a ball to the keeper, or onto the stumps is very easy.

so while I wont take that score and say that AB is in form and will come in and score a 17 ball 50, I am saying we will see an AB that will get more than 30 (the T20 equivalent of a 50) at a strike rate above 100%

will he make 50? prob not. but he will be impressive.

unless that new Spinner is unplayable again today.

All hinges on where he bats. If he comes in at 5, I wouldn't expect too much from him. He has to come in at the top (top 3 at least) to maximise his effectiveness.

He would not really play if he wasn't free of injury. He was supposed to be back for the test series already, which was delayed because he wasn't 100% ready yet.

My point is, keep it in perspective and don't expect miracles tonight as it's his first real game back, all I'm saying. If he's out with 4 from 2 balls, I can already see people panicking and saying "he should not have played/he should retire" etc., which would be uncalled for.

people are going to say he should retire or "he should just go play IPL because that is where the money is" regardless of his performance tonight.
strangely, those people will say that on the internet, but not in person to the friends.

Point is, there's form there, or class.

Twenty-year-old Lungi Ngidi, who has taken six wickets in his first two T20 Internationals, has earned a maiden call-up to South Africa's ODI squad for the first three matches against Sri Lanka, which start on January 28.

Good for him.

There should be no complaints about the pitch tonight......
After 3 overs it looks like a goody.

Going pretty much as expected...he's chilling at the moment. Let's hope he cashes in from an over or two from now.
