I know most munis handle things slightly differently with CoCT likely being the most detailed with requirements, but how many have been through the SSEG registration process and which supply authority are you connected to (Eskom, CoCT, George Muni, BCMM, CoJ, etc.)? What has it cost you?

I'm nearly done with Eskom Direct registration which involved:
Electrical engineer and update of CoC + supplimentary CoC + application completion / submission - R11k
Structural engineer (inspection and drawings of roofing structure to hold panels) - R7k (no roof defects needed to be addressed)
DGSL Kiosk - R6k

Still waiting for Eskom's quote which costs around R2-R3k (the cost of the quote, not the cost of any work they need to do). I'm not expecting anything - or very little at least, from Eskom's side. I'm being migrated to the Homeflex 4 tariff for generation and feedback. Fortunately I already have a smart meter which Eskom installed around 6 months ago - probably to make sure I wasn't scoring by reversing their meter.

COCT SSEG Registration. No Feedback though.

Application submitted on 25 Aug 2023,
Permission to install received on 18 Dec 2023
Commissioning approval received on 20 June 2024.

Yoh that is slow. What did the app cost?

CCT registrations took long when they migrated from paper-based (pdf forms) to the online forms and electronic submissions.

Fekkim, my house my solar system.
I'm being extorted and blackmailed enough by paying R470.00 a month for electricity i don't get or want.

Eskom’s grid. OHS act will be the driving factor going forward. I think we’ll see a few going off grid soon.

No Cost for the Application, but the city keeps changing goalposts, so the Installer had to add a few things to achieve compliance....
Only cost really was the Engineers signoff and line diagram. Which i think wasn't too bad.

Still in the process with CoCT.

System installed back when it was still paper applications. A month ago when, whilst applying for a new meter, they informed the electrical company that there was no application for my system.

Had the installers re-apply via eservices and now just waiting for the commissioning letter.

2 Systems installed at about the same time August last year in Cape Town.

1 in the Southern Suburbs. Commissioning took 6 Months.
1 in Town. Still waiting. Did a follow up and seems they haven't even gotten to it yet.

Interesting that it's mostly CoCT and CoJ for now. Anyone outside the major centers having to go through it? No other Eskom Direct clients? I think a lot of folk had to go through it at the start of their install, as should have happened. It's a bit of a PITA for us who have to revisit and get new approvals.

Eskom Direct took my application fee and never responded. Been 1 year now.

Which part of the world? They've been in weekly contact with me.
Have they put you onto a new tariff system yet? I'm curious to know how long that process takes.

Given it's fast becoming a new requirement to install an inverter these days, I wonder if SSEG will become a new requirement to sell your home just like CoC is?
