As long as your application is in, I guess they can't turn around and say you didn't do it?
Pretty much my attitude. I have done everything from my side including follow ups.
Our installers did the applications, so if COCT can't cope with the amount of applications then it's not my problem.
Also had the issue with meter that needed to be changed and even that was like wringing water from a rock.
I had to contact the subcontractors after several months to get it done.
I have my application number at hand for any issues from their side.

Which part of the world? They've been in weekly contact with me.
Have they put you onto a new tariff system yet? I'm curious to know how long that process takes.

Given it's fast becoming a new requirement to install an inverter these days, I wonder if SSEG will become a new requirement to sell your home just like CoC is?
Well eventually the authorities will catch up everywhere. Then those that don't have a registered system will have to do so. So as a buyer I would certainly take that into consideration when buying.

CoCT took over a year to issue me the complete red tape. Took another 3 months of hounding to get the meter changed

I've been trying for nearly 2 years now. The problem is that I'm in an estate who has a bulk supply with CoCT municipality, and apparently no one at the SSEG department knows how to handle an estate where each house may or may not want solar (CoCT wants the body corp to do an application for every single house whether they want solar or not even though only 2 houses out of 60 have/want solar - bizarre). They stopped responding after 7 May though when I tried to query this - impossible to move forward.

Anyone in JHB know anything about this? My install was done end of Sep 23 and although there was mention of SSEG on the forms, I was informed by installer that it was not a requirement. All I needed to do at the time was solar COC and house COC for insurance purposes - eskom direct.

CoCT
Application submitted on May 2023,
Permission to install received June 2023
_Still_ waiting on Commissioning approval over a year later.

First my application just stalled without notification because my municipal account is under my wife’s maiden name and they couldn’t reconcile.
Then once that was cleared up it was in the middle of the systems update so there would be delays, and then I just heard yesterday that it was just sommer cancelled without notification. I can’t wait for what’s next.

Just got approval to install, I see they charge you R6300 if you against the rulesView attachment 1756591
If in areas where they take ages to finalise

It may still be cheaper to just take that fine

If you know the registration will take long it is just peter pays paul ie y sacrifice some of the savings you already made 3 months of 650 units production you break even

More bargain

Less ouch

I see a lot of you guys are getting the meters changed, what's that all about?

Some areas insist on different meters cause the normal prepaid only does flat rate

Some munis move you to Time of use rates if you go solar and thus has to change meter

I see if you are due to feed into the grid for COCT you get moved to another tariff structure, anyone have any details?

If you want to feed back then you'll need to apply for a tariff change to Residential SSEG, the rates are in here. You will have to foot the bill for the AMI meter and there are requirements for "metering accomodation" at your own cost too (street facing meter box, undergound supply cable).

If you don't intend to feed back then you just need a split prepaid meter if you don't have one already, at CoCT's cost. These prepaid meters will use up credits if you push anything back, so just make sure you limit backfeed or set a minimum grid draw (Deye default is 20W).

In JHB so I do not have to register. I wanted to export power within my complex and run the meter backwards but the Trustees said only if I got the certification so I abandoned that. I would rather they did not know about my system as then they cannot target me in any way or form.
