Warriors have just bowled out the Dolphins to win by 88 runs in the Supersport Series clash.

Regardless of who won, what makes this significant is that both captains must be commended for wanting to obtain a result from a rain and bad light affected game.

This is what spectators want to see in the longer version of the game - results! Not boring draws...

Go Warriors! :D

Almost like what Hansie did vs England - except then they both declared an innings at 0/0. Not to mention lots of chatting on cellphones. :whistling:

Too much at stake at National level I reckon...

And Dolphins should be declared the winners anyway -

Warriors 248 & 96/6d
Dolphins 70/0d & 186 (53.3 ov)

The Dolphins only lost 10 wickets. The Warriors lost 16! ;) Very "gracious" of the Warriors to declare on 96/6!

In the Dolphin's first innings, they didn't lose a wicket, but only scored at 2.23 rpo. Sounds like they had to declare, 'cause they weren't getting anywhere. ;)

But i guess it ended up being the perfect time to declare, just needed a better run rate from the start.

Target was very fair - more than a day and more than 90 overs to score 270. Dolphins only have their own batting to blame.

Dolphins were doing all the giving! They declared on 70 WITHOUT LOSS in there first innings.

Warriors first innings - 2.7 runs per over
Dolphins first innings - 2.23 runs per over
Warriors second innings - 3.07 runs per over
Dolphins second innings - 3.47 runs per over

Dolphins required to score more than was scored in the Warrior's first innings, at a quicker run rate, and this on a four day old, and covered for a large portion of that, pitch. I think the odds were stacked strongly in one team's favour. Good on Imraan Khan though.

I think your math is wrong. Warriors declared just after lunch yesterday, leaving 1,5 sessions + 90 overs today.

Ignoring all the overs bowled yesterday that is 275/90. Required run rate was less than 2,5 so again, Dolphins lost the game all on their own.

LancelotSA is quoting what the Dolphins actually scored at in their second innings. But I agree, Dolphins/Imraan threw it away, against an under-strength Warriors. :D

But I agree with with you Lance, good on Imraan for throwing it away. j/k Don't forget that Johan Botha also declared very 'generously' seeing that they were 96/6. That probably means that he never read much into the Dolphins being no wickets down, 'cause he knew he hadn't even bowled yet. ;)

So basically 26 runs is grilling you? Well done :)

Ps the ammount of wickets down can not be seen as a measure. Why do you think when teams end on the same score with a different amount of wickets down the game is still a draw?
