Eskom power cuts are back

Eskom has announced that it will implement stage 2 load-shedding from 11:00 on Wednesday, 2 February until 05:00 Monday, 7 February 2022.

“This load-shedding is necessary due to a shortage of generation capacity following breakdowns of two more generating units during the night,” the state-owned power utility said.

Earlier in the week our power was out and it was pitch dark. Heard a couple of days later that they broke into a house down the street from us during the blackout. Be safe out there guys.
These guys know the more it happens, the less chance your securtity system batteries have to recharge...

But to me the biggest issue is the network providers loose conectivity after about 60-90 minutes,...(my area anyway)

My ISP stays up perfectly during load shedding, hell even during the massive outage on Sunday night where the whole of Roodepoort was down, but cellular wow it's on 3G the second the power goes off. I have my alarm hooked up to my battery backup solution, so it rarely knows when the power is off.

Not so much in large areas either :-( Cell-C or anything that hangs off them go down pretty much as power goes out.

I wish we had 3G during loadshedding. In my area we have absolutely no cellphone signal from any of the providers during loadshedding.
