Well, baseload Eskom capacity has greatly improved the week but as others have commented, not enough given our relatively high usage (for a summer).
I think we've had a few very warm days which have probably pushed the limits of our generation fleet, what with everyone clamouring to turn on their air conditioners and oscillating fans.

Eskom figures for this evening's peak period

Total demand: 29 249MW

Eskom Available Capacity: 30 414MW

No emergency diesel generators were used, Eskom rather shed 2 385MW in the form of Stage 2 loadshedding in an effort to build up diesel and water reserves for the days ahead.

Looking good over 30000mw on the grid atm
It is a 3GW difference from the weekend. Would be better if we were hitting 31 or 32GW as if summer has been this interesting, what will Winter bring.

Where are you getting this from? Sikonathi doesn't appear to be tweeting it anymore.

Edit: I see @EskomSpokesper1 is tweeting it now

The Eskom Spokesperson handle, for some reason he switches over to that and back again. Who knows.

Like my younger brother, same town diff suburb.

His section is shared with a hospital and almost never see any load shedding even when we where on level 4 he saw nothing.

lucky bastad. :(
Same here, I'm near to SITA maybe got loadshat all of twice last year. That's how I tell if it's a serious power shortage or just bantu politics, am getting switched off since this round started, so Koeberg and the expensive little station that couldn't, Kusili, is hurting them. Not that I care, its just shadenfreude to be able to say we told you so about Blekskom chasing the whites resulting in brooms corruption & being unable to even provide base production. Shame hey, maybe we need some Cubans again, pluck them out of poverty instead of our population.

More then likely your muncipality has been shat on and told to shed, little or no regards to being near SITA, as Eskom doesn't care. In the past they wouldn't shed near hospitals and such, but they changed that in 2018.

Yup and they'll only review load shedding at 5pm. Sigh so I will still have my second one today.

We was supposed to have double shift yesterday. 12-15:00 and then 20:00-23-00.

We got shed the first one but not the second one.

Today we're scheduled for 20:00-23-00 hope they deliver the same as last night.

Frak you're lucky, I've never missed a slot, if we're supposed to be shed, we're shed.

LOL @ this shthole country where it became acceptable to rely on fking Diesel generators to manage day to day electricity requirements.

Do the people in charge actually realize that it is basically holding the grid together by plugging in UPS systems daily.

In short, Eskom is not generating electricity in terms of least cost for production. They are merely throwing good money at Diesel in order for the Diesel to generate electricity. I don't see how they can afford to generate electricity at any reasonable cost when they are using Diesel to power the grid every single day.

Amazing sht.
