We're due to have two days of power outages due to maintenance tomorrow and Sunday from 08h00 - 16h00, followed by 22h00 - 00h30 load shedding on Saturday.

In a nutshell, we'll have power for 29.5 hours this whole weekend

Eskom announces stage 1 load-shedding for the weekend

Eskom has announced that load-shedding will be reduced from stage 2 to stage 1 at 21:00 on Friday, and will continue until 05:00 on Monday morning.

This is following an improvement in the generation capacity and the traditionally reduced weekend demand.

How can Eskom basically guarantee Stage 1 until Monday? If they're operating with such tight margins, surely a another series of unplanned outages would prompt continuation of stage 2? It just seems to be a recurring theme how we're hit with stage 2 and then it lessens to stage 1 according to a forecast and they get that forecast right every time ??
