I'm looking at that, but damn it's hard to get people to respond, you phone, you whatsapp, you email, its like I want to throw money at you, well money I can afford.

That is why you install when there is no sign of shedding.

Not sure where to put this (except up my jumper o_O) but my sister's got a weird set-up.

Solar people installed some batteries fed from Eskom but didn't put panels up? She hasn't got a clue when their power is off because the batteries kick in automatically.

So an inverter/charger and batteries? Nothing weird about it at all, that is what we had until we added the PV panels, MPPT and control unit.

I have my first loadshedding session now at 12pm, was lucky to miss the last couple of days but I'm dreading this session as my area goes out for loadshedding and then usually only comes back online a day later... if I'm lucky.

Honestly don't know why JHB is even loadshedding, the amount of power failures all over the city should more than make up for loadshedding on any given day. Hell, they could probably drop the stage by one just with all the robots and street lights that are out of order.

Technically we wouldn't have to if City power didn't cower to Eskom and just give up Kelvin.

Whatever happened with the Kelvin plan. Last they were busy sorting it out with Eskom. Problem is probably that the city have no understanding of loadshedding rather than Eskom.

Well currently City Power still hasn't acknowledged there is shedding. Even with the whole Kelvin thing in October where they were like thanks to Kelvin we're not shedding, 90% of people were going uhmmm yeah you are we're off now.

Evening Peak Feedback 11/04/2022, 18:10

Total demand: 32 749MW

Eskom Available Capacity: 29 928MW

Eskom OCGT's Utilised: 20
IPP OCGT's: 6

Diesel must be on special at the rate eskom burns it at.

Don't think eskom planned for over 32000mw before winter

Not sure why you think they aren't acknowledging it. Their Twitter feed is full of loadshedding schedules.

Now, they didn't have them until about 12.44 or so, before that they still put up a message saying loadshedding is from 5pm to 5am.

how did the system hold up to this Mike?
Was down to 15% at 6am when the wife woke up and decided to put the heater on. The inverter shut down at 10% 10 minutes later. Had to wait for the sun at 7:30 before we got power again.

There was an F56 low voltage fault code. Had to restart the inverter to clear the code, then restart the batteries in order to get everything going again.

If it wasn't for the extended area outage we would have been fine, but definitely need those additional batteries now for instances like this...

Did you do any load reduction or you just left the base load as-is

A 3rd will definitely get you in the clear
