Eskom says the level of maintenance and repairs are subpar...is this because the equipment is so old that any repairs are temporary at best, or are they using inexperienced/useless maintenance companies to do the work?

If brand new power stations break everyday then I would lean towards the latter.

Yup, in the past they used to use trains, the conveyor belt system and trucks were the last resort.

Eskom will implement stage 4 load-shedding throughout Thursday and Friday, with a possibility of lower stages from Saturday morning.

The state-owned power utility had previously hoped to reduce load-shedding to stage 2 from 05:00 on Thursday morning.

Could Eskom just settle on Stage 4 please instead of bouncing around and playing with our emotions. Stage 4 for the rest of the week, give them the chance to do what they need too, and move on.

Can't speak for early 2000's but EAF has been declining steadily since 2017

Would love to have a job where I can **** up on a daily basis and not have a care in the world, still get paid every month and also expect a bonus plus increase every year.
