Stage 5 load-shedding from Tuesday

Eskom will reduce load-shedding to stage 5 from Tuesday after restoring several generating units at its coal-fired power stations to service over Sunday night.

"We returned a unit each at Camden, Kriel, Kusile and Kendal," the utility said in a short statement to the media on Monday afternoon.

Meh. Much of a muchness. But I'm sure we'll be back to the regularly scheduled stage 6 shortly

They really need to sort out Koeberg, both Units are down.
This means that Eskom has to push more power from Mpumalanga to the Western Cape to compensate for the shortfall at a rate of about 1.5 times because of the distance.

I think the absence of 1 Unit at Koeberg is bad enough but 2 Units probably is the reason the sensitive units up in Mpumalanga keep tripping.

Koeberg stabilises the western side of the grid. At least that is my simplistic way of looking at it.

What? Where have they mentioned one being down? It's scheduled to go down in December, two is still being worked on.
