At this rate I reckon we're going to have loadshedding everyday for well, forever. Get used to the idea of having no power for half the day, constant grid issues in Johannesburg with days without power due to rampant cable theft, burned out substations, overloads, etc.

As has been proposed before, they should just make Stage 8 permanent, at least we know what to deal with then.

Unions flexed their muscles a little to hard this time. I don't think eskom even knows if it can get out of stage 4 anytime soon because of all this.

They should just have rolling Stage4 for everyone at the same time. to get stuff done quick. Let it run for like 4weeks. Get the parts, get the shifts in order, get the repairs done. All teams on board.

The public can then make plans, braai or run gas or candles or even USB LED lanterns with some powerbanks. Then get things ready to return to 100% working. Cause this thing of last 5-6years of having loadshedding @ random.. sometimes stage1 or 2 or 3 or 4. Then it's like loadshedding for 80-90days out of a every year. It sux.
Surely there must be a better way. Those guys get paid enough to do the work. No one at eskom is underpaid.

Rather get it done and fixed.

That's stage 6 for me tomorrow, unless CoCT can pull a rabbit out of a hat.

Given its track record and the age of the fleet. We would need stage 4 for at least 5 years.

Parys is now at 3 full days(since Friday morning 7:30) without grid supply, so we'll gladly accept Loadshedding stage 6, as we are experiencing stage 666 (apocalypse level) ...

Eskom finally had enough of the Ngwathe municipality's non/partial payments.
Eskoms transformer blew up due to overload and no protection (again) and Eskom now hold the residents hostage for a payment from the municipality because Eskom claims not to have budget for the repair.

The whole of Parys has been without electricity, having the following consequences:
* sewerage works not working, and I'm pretty sure untreated effluent flowing into the Vaal river,
* The whole town being without water, including hospitals / clinics, old age homes, frail care units

Irrespective of who is at fault, it is a SNAFU without the SN. Although the SN can be argued as well :(

People / businesses with boreholes and electricity have resorted to making water available on the pavements / parking areas .
Some with transport and big containers are taking water to the frail / without transport.
Others are working via the Rotary Club to prepared meals for those who cannot cook, etc...

*DRAFT MEDIA STATEMENT*

*Eskom ready to commence with Ngwathe repairs once payment is received*

*SATURDAY, 07 JULY 2022:* A quotation has been issued to Ngwathe Local Municipality for repairs required to restore supply to the Free State towns of Parys and Vredefort. This comes after overloading on Ngwathe’s network resulted in the tripping of Eskom’s equipment on Friday, 01 July 2022.
In meetings held on 01 and 02 July 2022, Ngwathe agreed to pay for the repairs. Eskom is ready to commence with the restoration work but have not received the promised payment from the Municipality.
Since 2018, Eskom has been in negotiations with Ngwathe to increase their Notified Maximum Demand (NMD) – the contracted amount of electricity supplied by Eskom to the Municipality. On numerous occasions, the Municipality has been warned that their continued exceedance of the NMD puts stress on Eskom’s equipment and that it will eventually result in damage to the Eskom network.
Eskom is not in a position to fund restoration of damages caused by a non-paying municipality and will therefore only proceed with the required work once the agreed payment is received.
