Standard Bank credit card adjustment

So I woke up this morning with an extra R3000.00 in my cheque account with a statement line of "ELECTRONIC TRF-CREDIT CARD ADJUSTMENT".

While I'm all for banks giving me free money, this is highly irregular and I'm very suspicious.

With their history of messing up and the fact that they have just launched a new website I'm inclined to believe that it's an error on their side and it will disappear as quickly and as mysteriously as it arrived.

So what could it be? Could they have been making some error on my credit card for the last few years they are quietly sorting out?

Any opinions, thoughts?

Either mistake, or they trying to make you spend more.
But with a name like that, I smell a rat

quickly draw the money. Invest it. when the bank wants their money back make arrangement to repay it with the interest from the investment .They cant charge you interest on faulty payments. you will score.

Knowing my luck they will reverse it directly causing me to go into overdraft and they will charge me overdraft fees.

End of the day.. Money been reversed as yet?

Still there. I did try to phone Standard Bank to figure out where it came from and what it was for but no joy. I was given the run around to about five different departments - each time having to use their horribly broken automated phone system. (They literally have the worst automated phone system I've ever had the displeasure of using.) Their automated system prompts you to enter your card number but it only recognises it about once every five times you enter it. After their system fails to recognize the card number 3 times in a row it has the snottiest, most snarky response I have ever heard that says: "You seem to be having problems with this simple step. Try again later".

So yeah, if it is some scam I figure I've done due diligence.

And I'm seriously considering changing bank after today's experience.

Just leave it to chill where it is...you'll know soon enough what the deal is.

Money is gone this morning, once again with no explanation. Really inspires confidence in Standard Bank.

Standard Bank - What we do to the money in your bank account is a mystery to you and us both!

How does the bank no it was the wrong account? I could then make a payment to you for something you are selling and then call the bank to reverse it after? It doesn't work like that man...

Teller error. I had an incident once were I deposited R3000 and the teller input R30,000 :D. It was revered soon after and I was sent an apology letter in the post explaining the incident.

So it is possible, but I'm sure if you did it via eft it would be a different story
