Doesn't help to upgrade their network if their software is up to ****

That's not too much. Am pretty sure Vodacom, MTN and Telkom are spending more than that in the current year alone. Each.

on FTTH deployments? I think not, Perhaps Telkom are but Vumatel > Telkom. Who in their right mind would want to use data over Telkom IPC on a high speed fibre line?

VC and Telkom definitely, not sure about MTN right now ... and thats on FTTx alone - excluding core and national network or RAN infrastructure ...

but it is still bloody big and bloody good news for all concerned

Agreed, hence "Competition is good".

specifically referring to FTTH, FTTx includes FTTB.

And what would happen if Openserve were to slash their IPC pricing overnight? How would that impact their competitors' business models and rollout plans?

Vumatel is awesome. In some areas in Gauteng.

The comparison is also not entirely apt

IPConnect is a very different service orientated product to being simply last mile access on infrastructure. Included in the pricing of IPConnect is national back haul and a core network etc ...

There are capital constraints on IPConnect and I can't see the price of IPConnect coming down without capacity constraints being addressed.
