Would be nice to know more specifics about exactly what IT roles are at risk.

Helpdesk support? Network technicians? Business Analysts? Programmers?

Probably mostly mid to upper management at risk. I think most of their low-level stuff is still mostly outsourced to third-party vendors

'-majority of affected positions are in the executive and managerial bands.

-expected to create new roles in the fields of cloud engineering, data science and analytics, cyber security, and APIs to enable an integrated ecosystem.

- will create over 180 new-generation IT positions within the bank.
will also result in the loss of a number of existing traditional IT positions'

Not sure whether IT retrenchments good or worrying news for STD customers. What would be described as a 'traditional IT position' ?

Anyone have a connection to ask them to fix their email statements? They've been incomplete since 2016 and I don't have the energy to log it. 1st of every month my statement only goes from 18th of previous month to that day.

Basic skills. Looks like they want more tech savvy in specific positions.

Section 189 has not been kind. First BCX, then SABC, Eskom following and now STD Bank.

At the risk of groans ... there's a cloud over many 'traditional' IT jobs, but it does have a silver lining.

The SA model needs disruption but.. skills they really need are hard to get and fleeing due to country situation. Can’t blame Fintech guys.. we see it happening 6+ months before others notice.
