Starlink wireless router and ground stations approved in SA

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) has approved at least one part of the customer equipment needed to use SpaceX's Starlink in South Africa.

Although Starlink's estimated launch date in South African remains to be confirmed, MyBroadband is aware of at least several hundred local users of Starlink's roaming service in the country.

how in the world can ANC or ICASA say there were no request by starlink for license in SA but ICASA approved the starlink but ICASA say starlink did not apply
Who is lying about the request.
yes starlink is not BEE but why will he sell 40% to BEE, did you BEE buy the company, done any work or know what to do.
Again why will starlink Dishy be approved but no lisence

Perhaps a local ISP applied for type approval, and not Starlink?

Both these mentions a local ISP

Does not really make a difference if all kit gets type approved.

The ECA is very clear on what is required to operate a network in SA.

Only hope is that Starlink spins off a separate entity which is BEE. This is no different to what any other FNO/ISP in SA has to do to operate

Sux but it's the reality without a regulation change

National license must be alot harder to get.
Look the BEE thing isn't actually all that hard to get around guys, I think this is just being blown way out of proportion. Normal ECS and ECSN require level 4 BEE so if you structure your company in a specific way one can get it pretty easily

MyBB was busy using an unapproved RF device illegally for weeks, and publishing articles about their crime.

"No! Poor black people in rural South Africa are not allowed internet access unless rich black people in urban South Africa can make loads more money!" - The ANC

I think it's important that rural people stay without internet as in the urban areas we have internet.

How come? If they had internet, maybe they can educate themselves and see how useless the ANC are. Then again, R15000 for internet is wishful thinking.

I am being naughty, I don't understand governments logic or the lack of logic, people need to be given every opportunity to improve themselves, R15 000 for a community with a government subsidy, it's not a lot of money. Voice is incredible expensive!
