Top One and Top Movies
Q. Why does the channel Top One only start at 15:30 .
A. Top TV is gradually building towards a 24hours schedule, for now we are concentrating on Prime Time, giving you the best content that we have at our disposal. This prime time slot gives everyone access to the content at a time when most people are at home and available to watch.
The phasing in of the schedule will be as follows:
Week 1: (May 1 & 2) the channel will start at 16:00 – 00:00
Week: 2 (May 3 – 9) the channel will start at 15:30 – 02:00
Week 3: (May 10 – 16) the channel will start at 15:30 – 02:00
Week 4: (May 17 – 23) the channel will start at 09:30 – 02:00
Week 5: (May 24 – 30) Full 24 hour schedule
Q. Why does the movie channel, Top Movies not run for 24 hours.
A. The nature of a movie channels is to start with fewer hours, but new titles every day. However, as you gather more stock, you can start scheduling a full 24 hour channel. This will normally take 2 – 3 months. Our intention is to start on a full 24 hour schedule in August 2010. The result however, is that you will have more repeats.
Q. Are you going have repeat programming?
A. Yes, repeats form an integral part of any pay television platform or channel – all over the world.
The repeat pattern varies by genre, for example, kids programming will have a higher repeat rate than a reality show.
Q. Why am I paying now, when I am not getting a full 24 hours?
A. Top Movie is not the only movie channel on the Ultimate package but we also have Showtime, Silver and Fox FX.
Q. Will the channel have local content?
A. Yes. It has been proven many times over, that local content is often better appreciated than international content. However at the moment, we have only licensed international and some local programming. In the near we will be commissioning our own programmes.
We already had a locally produced channel as part of our offering, Top Gospel.
Q. Will Top One commission content from the local production sector.
A. Yes we will. We are currently working on our commissioning procedures which will be published on our website in due course.
