What do you want to achieve with your hotspot?

oh oh... lol... heavy customized actions

self service
SMS support for password after a users bought a voucher
custom voucher design
custom portal page
custom products
credit card support
prepaid support
free internet access for each MAC every day with custom settings on cap and time and then buy
and login must be on the side, and must display the main website in the main page, probably using some frames or stuff
huge list of allowed free websites
linux based or something, I don't care, using ubuntu desktop as platform
and thats it..

mission impossible, but thats what I need.. :*(

You need RADIUS Manager doing the processing and MikroTik's hotspot system or pfSense pointing to the customers.

This is not child's play. To get this lot working to that level you will need at least two months.

I trust this is an academic excercise. The 2.4GHz spectrum is now so congested that you can hardly get 50m range between a radio transmitting at legal levels and a laptop on the Greater Cape Town area. Using high power radios with high gain antennas that can transmit further will not only get the Powers That Be on your case, but will also make you no friends amongst the people who are transmitting at legal power levels.

lol yea no wonder I'm getting ~50meter in cpt and 1km at the westcoast with a laptop, and thesedays the westcoast are also going wifi big time. and people blasting thier cctv wireless cams from office to office using something like a 100W trasmitter or something on the 2.4Ghz , lol!! killing ch1+2+3+4+5+6 on the 2.4Ghz

I've tried last night installing chillispot + freeradius + apache + blablabla and followed a messedup guide, and got stuck with "create a new SQL database" and I was like "say what!!!" so I got stuck there, the guide looked promising tho, and also I fell inlove with ubuntu

To get back to Radius manager, I have looked into that option a couple of nights ago, but I thought, well, maybe I can use something free on the internet without having to take a risk of -$99 if I failed

Viktor will install it remotely on your computer and give you a 30 day free trial.

However, I would suggest studying the manuals beforehand.

I assume victor is the guy from Radius Manager, I have looked into that screenshot also awhile ago and it kinda looked like "bleh" I'm not super impressed with the interface, but the key features on the website kinda looks cool, but I'm no expert and I don't have time for all the for research, but I'm interested in setting up a server tho
