Hi,
I have a 2009 Corsa 1.7 diesel utility and over the past two weeks am having a problem with it suddenly cutting out on me while driving, then the motor will crank but will not start. If I try again after a long period it will start and run again until the same thing happens again.
Please can someone give me an idea of what the problem is?

Coil pack is the first port of call on these vehicles...

Definitely sounds like a coil pack problem, exactly the same thing happened to my mothers car. Would describe it the same word for word, just replaced it in her car and it was fine afterwards

It's a diesel, no spark plugs so no coils?

I'm guessing it's fuel related, either filter, pump or air in the pipes if you ran the fuel tank low recently.

i have replaced the fuel filter and bled the pipes using a small fuel suction pump. Once the filter is full it starts again, but then does the same thing again.

You'd get more help in the motoring section. I understand the mobile in mobile broadband might have thrown you off.

I had a similar issue with my Corsa.

Eventually traded it in and made it someone else's problem.

This thread really is in the wrong place - mayhaps a mod would be kind enough to move it? ;)

Yes it's drained. Having said that the last time it did that and I filled the filter again the vehicle ran for twe days without a hiccup, then yesterday evening when I tried to start it it wouldn't start. This morning it started again.

Fuel pump... Can't find any info on what fuel system that particular engine uses so it could be the pump or worse the electrics governing the pump.

Does it cut out while actually moving, or are you stationary when it dies?

Reason I ask is because last week our corolla was dying while standing at a robot - all lights on the dash goes out. Then after a few seconds it would start like nothing happened.

Turned out the battery was dead.
