Hey all,

I want to start a software project (can't talk too much about the details right now), but don't quite know how to approach it if I want / need some "partners" to assist with it?

The project will primarily be OSS orientated, and will probably use a BSD / Apache license, since I want to have an Open Source side of it, but also a commercial side (to fund the development / developer's "salaries" / etc).

But, I don't know how to approach this kind of project. Ideally, whom every I take on board will need to become a partner / member, and will be able to share the costs (both in terms of profits, and expenses), experience, "fame", etc.

I personally have some PHP / MySQL / AJAX / PERL / BASH Scripting coding experience, and have some Linux & Windows servers in South Africa, as well as USA & Australia, but I can't entirely run a project like this one my own. And I also can't really pay a salary for this kind of project, but would rather bargain on the fact that as it grows and we get money in, in terms of donations & license costs.

So, how does one start something like this? I've seen many projects on the internet that's run by one person, but the project either never takes off properly, or it dies down as quick as it has started up.Or the developer looses interest, commits suicide, get's killed, gets married, etc.
On the other hand I've also seen many project which are run by say 3 or 4 developers, they take donations & have paid support / commercial addons / commercial versions of the projects / etc, and it does quite well.

If anyone has some ideas on this, please let me know, and if you're interested, please let me know as well.
